Penang Hill Ground Anchors

Grouting Services was privileged to be engaged to provide specialist advice for new ground anchors required as part of the canopy walk bridge on the Eco-Tourism Project located in Penang Hill, Penang, Malaysia. The proposed bridge is a ribbon bridge and consists of 2 spans each approximately 115 m long. Ground anchors at the outer abutment caisson piers are required to provide the counter balancing restraining force and comprise approximately 50No x 125T anchors in the order 25-30m long. Challenges included operating in an environmentally sensitive area with severe limitations on access coupled with varying soil and rock conditions.
